Women’s Basketball - Head Coach
Alma Mater: Medaille College
In two short years, Sanborn resident Nate Beutel has led the Niagara County Community College women's basketball program to unprecedented success. Beutel coached NCCC to a school-record 25 wins, its first-ever national ranking and the top seed in the 2014 Region III Division II Tournament. For his efforts, Beutel was named 2014 Region III Division II Coach of the Year by his peers. In his first season, Beutel led NCCC to 13 wins - 12 more than the season prior - and a spot in the Region III Division II Final Four.
Under the tutelage of Beutel, guard Jaclyn Welch was named a 2014 NJCAA Division II All-American Second Team honoree - just the second player in school history to earn that distinction. Welch was also the 2014 Region III Division II Player of the Year and a First Team All-Region III selection. Center Kristine Ripson, the 2013 Region III Division II Player of the Year, was also a First Team All-Region III pick. Point guard Jesse DeWaters was a Second Team All-Region III performer and power forward Alba Perez was named Third Team All-Region III.
Beutel came to NCCC after spending the previous two seasons as head boys varsity basketball coach at Grand Island High School. Prior to Grand Island, Beutel coached the JV men's basketball team at Medaille College (2009-10) and the boys modified basketball team at Wilson High School (2008-09). He is also the head softball coach at NCCC (2014-present) and an assistant football coach at Starpoint High School (2010-present). He previously spent two years as the head women's lacrosse coach at NCCC.
The former three-sport standout at nearby Starpoint High School earned a master's degree in elementary education and bachelor's degree in sport management from Medaille College. In addition to coaching, Beutel is also the college's Sports Information Director and an adjunct professor of sport management.
