Women’s Basketball - Head Coach
Alma Mater: Medaille College
During his first season at the helm, Sanborn resident Nate Beutel led the Thunderwolves to one of their most successful campaigns in school history. NCCC finished the 2012-13 season with a 13-15 record. The 13 wins are the most for the program since at least the 1998-99 season. NCCC earned the No. 3 seed in the Region III Tournament and dropped a one-point heartbreaker to No. 2 Alfred State in the semifinals.
Under the tutelage of Beutel, freshman forward Kristine Ripson was named Region III Player of the Year and a member of the Region III All-Tournament team. Sophomore forward Jessica Curry joined Ripson on the All-Region III first team and sophomore forward Nthanda Longwe was an All-Region III third-team selection.
Beutel came to NCCC after spending the previous two seasons as head boys varsity basketball coach at Grand Island High School. Prior to Grand Island, Beutel coached the JV men's basketball team at Medaille College (2009-10) and the boys modified basketball team at Wilson High School (2008-09). He is also the head women’s lacrosse coach at NCCC (2012-present) and an assistant football and baseball coach at Starpoint High School (2010-present).
The former three-sport standout at Starpoint received a master's degree in elementary education and bachelor's degree in sport management from Medaille College. He is a former award-winning sports reporter at the Niagara Gazette and currently an adjunct professor of sport management and intramural-recreation supervisor at NCCC.
