P/T Assistant Teacher (Nutrition & Environment Aid)

DESCRIPTION:

NCCC’s Child Development Center is seeking a part-time, grant-funded Assistant Teacher (Nutrition & Environment Aid), The Nutrition & Environment Aid reports to the Director of the Child Development Center and works in conjunction with the Director, and Lead Teachers along with the NCCC food service department.  Responsibilities include but not limited to the following:

  • Planning, set-up, and activity of the kitchen and classroom eating areas
  • Preparing children’s meals
  • Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) documentation and reporting,
  • Addressing associated issues requiring immediate attention 

This position will be for a maximum of 28 hours per week for approximately 30 weeks (7:30 am – 1:30 pm Monday through Friday.  This is a 10 month position from late August through mid-May.  Reliable transportation to and from work is an expectation.

Rate of Pay Commensurate based on experience.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

High School graduate; minimum 19 years of age; two years experience in food service in a child care center or family restaurant. 

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education, Human Services, Culinary Arts, or related field; BOCES Early Childhood Education graduate; successful completion of courses in Early Childhood Education or Culinary Arts from an accredited institution of higher education; two years of consistent paid experience as a food service worker in a child care center within the last four years.
