Introduction to Geography

An introduction to world regional geography organized around developed and less developed regions. Provides an overview of the regional geography of the world, as well as basic systematic geography. (Usually offered Fall and Spring semesters.)

Introduction to Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
(3 Lec. hrs. per week) 3 Cr.
This course addresses the fundamental principles of Geography by utilizing Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
software (ArcView 3.x). GIS is a spatial analysis system designed to improve environmental decision-making. Major topics
include the examination of how digital earth resources data are collected, stored, analyzed, and displayed while emphasizing natural resource problems. In addition, the use of other geographic technologies will be examined such
as mapping, aerial photography, remote sensing, and global positioning systems and their relationship to GIS.
