Take It from the Top: What to do with a Peak Experience
October 28, 2013
Dr. Edward M. O'Keefe, former professor of English at Niagara County Community College will present his research for his book Take It from the Top: What to do with a Peak Experience
(Topknot, 2012) on Tuesday, October 29, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Niagara County Community College, 3111 Saunders Settlement Road, Sanborn, NY, 14132. The event will take place in D Building (Lewis Library), Room 121 and is open to the public.
Peak experiences, according to O'Keefe, provide the cutting edge of progress in all human endeavors. Abraham Maslow, the 20th Century American psychologist championed the study of peak experiences. He defined these "experiences are those mountain top moments when we are suddenly taken out of ourselves-unforgettable ecstatic events, usually of short duration that are very difficult to describe." In this publication, O'Keefe has collected hundreds of peoples' recollections of peak experience and provides the best theories, explanations, and interpretations of the subject. Join us for a psychological interpretation of the aha moment.
