The NCCC Film Tech Program is a 15-week course that will provide students with the training and knowledge required to perform entry-level positions in filmmaking such as PA (Production Assistant), Grip,Digital Imaging Technician (DIT), and 2nd AC (Assistant Camera). The program will combine basic instruction in the filmmaking process, hands-on production experience with professional equipment and tools, skills and tricks of the trade, and discussions/interaction with experienced film professionals. The program consists of three 5-week training sessions: Module 1: Production Assistant - May 20 - June 17, Module 2: Grip,  and Module 3: 2nd Assistant Camera & Digital Imaging Technician.

Classes will meet on Saturdays from 9:00 am – 12:00 pm, with periodic extended sessions (9:00 am – 9:00 pm) when students are engaged in hands-on production activities. The program will cover: basic filmmaking techniques, equipment and technology, roles and responsibilities, terminology, and set etiquette.

Student Qualifications

To be accepted into the NCCC Film Tech Program, students must be at least 18 years of age and acknowledge that they...

  • are able to lift and carry 50 lbs.
  • are able to carry up to 15 lbs. up and down stairs
  • are able to function in a high-intensity environment
  • are willing to work long hours when necessary (8-12 hours)
  • have a reliable means of transportation
