STUDENTS WITH DISABILITIES
Students with disabilities will find NCCC well suited to their needs. The architectural design of the college
provides a barrier-free environment. Most of the campus is street-level, and there are ramps and elevators
where necessary. There are also accessible rest rooms, drinking fountains, and telephones.
In compliance with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990,
the College provides reasonable accommodations for students with disabilities, including those with learning
disabilities.
Students should contact the Coordinator of Services for Disabled Students as soon as they decide to attend NCCC.
The Coordinator will assist students with academic support and accommodations when necessary, including providing
accommodations for the College Placement tests. Accommodations will be based upon individual needs and course
requirements. Examples may include extended time, readers and scribes for examinations, note takers, and adaptive
technology. Students with disabilities must provide documentation by a qualified professional that substantiates
eligibility for accommodations.
NCCC has a variety of adaptive equipment that is available in various locations throughout the campus.
The Health Services Center will assist students with disabilities with parking and personal needs. A student
organization, the Disabled Students Association (DSA), serves as a support group and provides a collective voice
for students at the College.
Inquiries regarding application of and compliance with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 or the
Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 may be directed to the Coordinator of Services for Students with
Disabilities, Affirmative Action Officer, or the ADA Coordinator. Any information pertaining to disabilities will
be confidential and will not affect the student's admission to the College.
