The Certificate Program is a 31-credit-hour program which concentrates on the acquisition of skills in using digital media for creation of web-based materials, interactive multimedia products, and digital video and audio projects. This program is ideal for someone who has already earned a degree or is working in a related field and who would like to update their skills. Because of the progression of the courses, this certificate program can best be completed on a part-time basis over four semesters.

Students choose to follow one of three tracks: Web Developer, Multimedia Production or Digital Video and Audio, depending on their career goals.

Admission: Apply under SUNY Code #1514. Students admitted in September and January.

Please Note: Students entering the Digital Media Program must be proficient in the use of Macintosh and/or Windows computers.

Web Developer

Students in the Web Developer track gain practical experience in the use and application of various software and hardware components involved in the planning, creation, and maintenance of a web site. This will include the design and layout of web sites that incorporate graphic images, animation, form processing, video and audio files, and other interactive multimedia components. Students learn to create web pages using the latest standard coding standards including XHTML, CSS, PHP, and Javascript.

Multimedia Production

Students in the Multimedia Production track learn the use and application of various software and hardware of multimedia production. This includes the creation of interactive multimedia for websites, cd-roms and kiosks. Students work with a variety of software programs including Adobe Photoshop®, Macromedia Flash®, and Final Cut Express®

Digital Video and Audio

Students in the Digital Video and Audio track learn to create video and audio files for use in websites and multimedia projects. This includes digital video and audio production skills, editing skills, and compression. Students work with a variety of software programs including Adobe Photoshop®, Final Cut Express®, Adobe AfterEffects®, and ProTools®.

Total 31 credit hours with a minimum Curriculum Point Average of 2.0.  Academic Foundations Courses do not count toward the degree.
