Introduction
The Associate in Science Degree program prepares students for transfer to a four-year college or university or for entry level employment in the field of digital media. A liberal-arts-based program, the AS in Digital Media provides students with the general education courses needed for transfer. A core of Digital Media courses give students the technical skills needed to pursue a career in Web Development, Multimedia Production, or Digital Video and Audio Production.
Students choose to follow one of three tracks: Web Developer, Multimedia Production, or Digital Video and Audio, depending on their career goals.
Admission: Apply under SUNY Code #1599. Students admitted in September and January.
Please Note: Students entering the Digital Media Program must be proficient in the use of Macintosh and/or Windows computers.
Web Developer
Students in the Web Developer track gain practical experience in the use and application of various software and hardware involved in the planning, creation, and organization of a web site. This includes the design and layout of web sites that incorporate graphic images, animation, form processing, audio and video files, and other interactive multimedia components. Students learn to create web pages using the latest standard coding standards including XHTML, CSS, PHP, and Javascript.

Multimedia Production
Students in the Multimedia Production track learn the use and application of various software and hardware tools of multimedia production. This includes the creation of interactive multimedia for websites and cd-roms. Students work with a variety of software programs including Adobe Photoshop®, Macromedia Flash®, and Final Cut Express®.

Digital Video and Audio
Students in the Digital Video and Audio track learn to create video and audio files for use in websites and multimedia projects. This includes digital video and audio production skills, editing skills, and compression. Students work with a variety of software programs including Adobe Photoshop®, Final Cut Express®, Adobe AfterEffects®, and ProTools®.

Transfer Information
Dual Admission Agreements are in place with the following four-year institutions:
Canisius College - Digital Media Arts
Fredonia State College - Visual Arts and New Media
Students should work closely with their academic advisor to insure a smooth transition into a related four-year degree program such as New Media, Digital Media, Multimedia, Web Developer/Designer or Media Arts.
