Future Leaders Liberty Partnerships Program

Future Leaders Fall '19 Highlights

The Future Leaders LPP @ NCCC has been focusing a large part of its efforts on encouraging students to invest in their communities. So far this fall we have sponsored several school-community collaboration events that our students loved in addition to many other fun, exciting, and education activities.

Lockport Community Cleanup

Lockport Community Cleanup

The Future Leaders at Lockport High School worked together with the Niagara County Highway Department to organize a community cleanup. Reflector vests were donated by Niagara Metals, a local business, for student use. Students spent several hours picking up trash in the immediate area surrounding their school.

Niagara County Bat Houses

Niagara County Bat Houses

Our Future Leaders at North Park Junior High School took on the project of learning about the importance of bats to the community, why their dwindling population is of concern, and how to encourage the growth of the bat population. Students worked with a specialist from the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation, and Historic Preservation FORCES Program to learn all about bats, our local Home Depot donated 2 bat house kits for the student to assemble, and in the spring students will assist the Niagara Parks and Recreation Department to hang the houses in areas identified as prime locations for bats.

Chase 5K Bake Sale

Chase 5K Bake Sale

Students attending the Tuscarora Indian School helped raise fund for Chase Hill, a 4th grade student who was diagnosed with Duchene Muscular Dystrophy, to help defray medical costs associated with his care. Students worked with the faculty and staff to organize a bake sale, oversee children’s activities, and clean up after race/lunch.

LaSalle Vineyard

LaSalle Vineyard

The LaSalle Vineyard is a community garden within walking distance of one of our middle school. This fall the Future Leaders attending that school and the community worked in collaboration to get the garden ready for winter. Additionally, the community is in process of building a decorative windmill to put in the garden and asked our Future Leaders to design and paint three 6ft paddles which will be added to the windmill for next spring.

Classy Paint Night

“Classy Paint Night”

Teens at our after-school program at Boys and Girls Club of Niagara Falls got to sip on sparkling cider while painting a wine glass for a female role model in their life just in time for the Holiday season.

Tackling Stress

Tackling Stress

In an effort to promote mental health and balance in student’s lives, NFHS students worked to identify stressful triggers in their lives and stress relievers through this fun interactive game that took over our classroom for a month. Identifying coping skills and knowing the triggers before a meltdown occurs can give our students a leg up and further student success.

Cookie Decorating Extravaganza

Cookie Decorating Extravaganza

Students at NFHS got to try out making their own royal icing and decorating sugar cookies leading up to Christmas Break. Students created their decorating competition and enjoyed their treats before heading off to their next class.

Adopt-a-Tree

Adopt-a-Tree

Liberty students at ETMS participated in Adopt-A-Tree fundraiser at Niagara Wheatfield High School! The students adopt a tree and chose "The Office" theme for their tree. The tree will either be donated directly to a special family or it will be auctioned off with proceeds going towards families in need during the holiday season. The students enjoyed getting into the Christmas spirit and helping a local family at the same time!

Afterschool @ Gaskill

Afterschool @ Gaskill

Liberty Leaders at Gaskill Prep have been working hard on planning their future education path to begin their dream careers of becoming architects, mechanics, nurses, doctors, and teachers. With all the planning, we have also made time for fun. Students also participated in learning about the how things are made, endangered species, experimented with stem activities, and celebrated with fun winter activities.
