Professor Named Researcher for PBS Documentary
SANBORN, N.Y. — Niagara County Community College’s Professor of Art History Nancy Knechtel has been named a researcher for a PBS documentary on Elbert Hubbard and the Roycroft movement.
The documentary, which is being produced by WNED and broadcast on PBS in the spring of 2009, has Knechtel researching historic images of the Roycroft workshops, other arts and crafts communities and artisans. She will also be responsible for finding background images and film clips that relate to the era.
Knechtel received her bachelor’s degree in art and master’s degree in art history and Italian from SUNY Buffalo. She was also awarded the State University of New York’s Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Teaching in 1993 and the Excellence in Teaching Award from the National Institute for Staff and Organizational Development (NISOD) in 1994.
