NCCC Board of Trustees Approves Contract with TSPA
SANBORN, N.Y. (Oct. 15) — The Niagara County Community College Board of Trustees approved today a new seven-year agreement with the Technical Support Personnel Association (TSPA) at its monthly board meeting at the Notar Administration Building on the Sanborn campus.
The union, that currently represents 26 employees on campus, previously ratified the contract. It passed with the approval of 85 percent of the union members who voted.
“I appreciate the commitment our employees have to providing quality service,” NCCC President Dr. James P. Klyczek said. “It has been a long process and both sides worked hard on this agreement to insure that the College can continue to meet its mission.”
“The TSPA membership has strongly endorsed this agreement,” former Union President Robert Brammer said. “We are glad that after four years it is over and that the agreement contains two main points, it protects our membership and also balances the needs of maintaining adequate benefits with the responsibility to help curb health care costs. Both sides, we feel, have benefited by the settling of this agreement.”
The contract covers the period of Sept. 1, 2004, to Aug. 31, 2011, and has the following key points.
• Increase salaries by an average 2.95 percent per year for seven years
• Provide a single health care provider and restructuring employee contributions
• Clarified grievance and disciplinary procedures
• Provides a health reimbursement account for each employee
• Provides a HMO and employees are eligible after five years for a traditional policy
• Future retirees at 65-years-old will be provided a Medicare Advantage plan
• Exchanged Election Day for Christmas Eve and a floating holiday
