NCCC Names Chliwniak Vice President of Academic Affairs

SANBORN, N.Y. (Aug. 4) — The Niagara County Community College Board of Trustees approved the appointment of Dr. Luba Chliwniak as Vice President of Academic Affairs at its Aug. 3 board meeting. She begins her appointment in August.luba

“Luba offers many important qualities that will bring strength to the college immediately and in the years to come. Her pleasant disposition, commitment to the mission of our college, and great knowledge of the areas of academics, curriculum and articulation agreements will enable us to continue our growth.  We are very happy to have her as a member of our academic community,” Dr. James P. Klyczek, NCCC President said.

Chliwniak comes to the Sanborn campus after spending six years as Vice President of Instruction at Harford Community College in Maryland. She oversaw academic, training, adult education, and personal interest programs and courses, articulation agreements, and library/information resources and services, a faculty instructional resource center, alternative and distance education offerings, economic development activities, academic and workforce grants, the regional higher education center for senior institutions, instructional facilities, and a budget greater than $20 million. Harford has an enrollment of over 8,000 students

I am looking forward to working with the faculty and staff to ensure the county has premier programs and academic services to meet the needs of students,” Chliwniak said. “I was so very impressed with the college during the interview process and was thrilled when I got the call offering me the position. I can assure the community, President Klyczek, the trustees, faculty and staff that I will bring many years of experience and a commitment to the mission of the college.”

Prior to Harford Community College, Chliwniak spent two years as Vice President for Academic Affairs at Cleveland State Community College in Tennessee, and four years at Cochise College in Arizona as Executive Director of Workforce and Institutional Development, and as Dean of Career Programs/Technology.

She was also in consulting and contract services, a full-time and adjunct faculty member, program coordinator and counselor during her over 30-year career.

Chliwniak earned her associate’s degree from Niagara College of Applied Arts & Technology, and bachelor’s, master’s and doctorate degrees from the University of Arizona.
