Professor Publishes Second Book

SANBORN, N.Y. (Nov. 17) — The book, Niagara County Community College English professor of English Dr. Yu Liu, has recently has recently had his book Seeds of a Different Eden published by The University of South Carolina Press.

The 224-page book focuses on the study of the influence of Chinese gardening concepts on the English landscaping revolution of the early 18th century.

An NCCC faculty member since 1994, Dr. Liu was awarded a John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation Fellowship for 2006-2007 for his research on Chinese gardening ideas in the English landscaping revolution.  His research has also been supported various short-term fellowships in the United States and Great Britain.

A seasoned author, Liu has produced 14 works including the book Poetics and Politics: The Revolutions of Wordsworth, which was published in 1999.

He teaches developmental writing, freshman composition, introduction to literature, introduction to linguistics and British literature survey at NCCC.

Liu holds a bachelor’s degree from Loyang Foreign Language Institute in China and master’s degrees from Lancaster University in England and Edinburgh University in Scotland.  He received his Ph.D. from SUNY at Buffalo.
