NCCC Instructor Dies Unexpectedly Over the Weekend

SANBORN, N.Y. (Sept. 2, 2008) — Niagara County Community College instructor Robert Lord, died unexpectedly Saturday, Aug. 30, at the age of 62. He was also the Coordinator of the National GeoTech Center: Northeast.

“We are profoundly and deeply saddened by the sudden, untimely death of Rob," NCCC President James P. Klyczek said. “Robert has left a lasting impression on the lives of many throughout the NCCC community.
“We extend our deepest sympathies to Rob’s family,” Klyczek said. “In the days ahead we will work to give our full support to the Lord family and to assist them in any way we can.”

Lord joined the NCCC faculty in January of 2003. This past June he also was named Coordinator of the National GeoTech Center: Northeast and was instrumental in NCCC becoming a center for Advanced Technological Education in geospatial technology with new funding from the National Science Foundation (NSF). He also was influential in the development for the newly certified Geographic Information Systems certificate.

Lord received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Manchester University and a postgraduate certificate in Education for the University of Waterloo.

A memorial service will be held Sept. 13 at 10 a.m. at the Good Shepherd Church on Tonawanda Creek Road.

The NCCC Social Sciences Division is notifying impacted NCCC students to ensure a successful semester.
