Professor Knechtel Receives Dr. Jamieson Award

Awarded the Dr. Carol Jamieson Award
SANBORN, N.Y. — Professor Nancy Knechtel, Professor of Arts & Media Design at Niagara County Community College, received the Dr. Carol Jamieson Award on Thursday, December 10th, at a ceremony held at the V. James Renda Faculty Resource Center for Academic Excellence at NCCC.
The award was presented to Professor Knechtel by Professor Marguerite Newton of the Math/Science and Technology Divison and Professor Lillian Passanese, coordinator of the V. James Renda Faculty Resource Center for Academic Excellence.
The intent of the Dr. Carol Jamieson Award is to recognize faculty members, both past and present, who best exemplify the outstanding traits Dr. Jamieson possessed. Only full-time faculty who have been a part of the college community for at least five years are eligible. Dr. Jamieson, who passed away in 2005, personified the following traits:
- · mentoring and support given to other faculty;
- · continuous growth in the field of study;
- · ability to inspire in students independent and original thinking;
- · enthusiasm and vitality in learning and teaching;
- · dedication to the support of academic excellence;
Professor Knechtel received the award after being nominated by present and former members of the college faculty.
