NCCC to Host Alumni Night February 16th, Honoring Hall of Fame Basketball Coach Dan Bazzani Prior to Men’s Game against Genesee CC
The Niagara County Community College Alumni Association will be holding an “Alumni Night” Tip Off event on Tuesday, February 16th during the NCCC women’s and men’s basketball games against Genesee Community College. The event is free and will begin at 5:00 pm, featuring hospitality room for alumni with refreshments and snacks as well as free give-a-ways and contests at halftime of the two basketball games.
Prior to the start of the men’s contest against Genesee, former NCCC coach Dan Bazzani will be honored at center court for his hall of fame career and recent induction into the Greater Buffalo Sports Hall of Fame. In ten seasons at NCCC Bazzani compiled an impressive record of 197-68 (.743 winning percentage) including a 26-1 mark in 1977 which saw the Trailblazers drop a one point decision in the NJCAA national championship finals. NCCC finished second-ranked in the National Junior College Athletic Association poll hat season.
Bazzani went on to coach at the University at Buffalo and Niagara Falls High School where he was named National Coach of the Year and his Wolverines laid claim to the nation’s number one ranking.
