NCCC to Host 13th Annual Tech Wars

(SANBORN, N.Y.) – Niagara County Community College hosts its 13th annual Tech Wars on January 13th from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. in the NCCC fine arts auditorium and main gym.

Tech Wars is a technology fair for all middle and high school technology students with competitions in all disciplines of technology education that allows students an opportunity to display and demonstrate their technological abilities. Students can enter any project from drawings to robots or bring any project and enter it in the Static/Dynamic Project Display category.

Over 700 middle school and high school students and faculty from 24 Western New York school districts will compete in the following events: Autonomous Robot, Bridge Building, Musical Instrument, Short Track CO2 Dragster, Basic Stamp, Mousetrap Car, Sumo, Architectural Design, Drafting, RC Heavyweight Sumo Robots, VEX Robotics, T-shirt Design and Video Production. Awards will be handed out to winners in each category.

Events begin at 9:00 a.m. with quarterfinals at 11 a.m. and semifinals at noon. Finals for events will be held at 12:45 p.m. and the awards ceremony begins at 1:30 p.m.

In 2009, Tech Wars hosted over 500 middle and high school students from 20 school districts along with another 100 faculty and staff from those districts for a turnout of 680. The Lockport School District took home the 12th annual Tech Wars title and returns to defend its title.
