SBDC Research Network
The Research Network provides research support to over 900 Small Business Development Centers throughout the United States, Puerto Rico, and the Virgin Islands. It is funded by the US Small Business Administration and administered by the State University of New York.

Niagara County Industrial Development Agency
Niagara SBDC conducts training programs and coordinates assistance for the Micro-Enterprise Assistance Program administered by the Niagara County Industrial Development Agency. This program is for low- to moderate-inclome entrepreneurs interested in starting their own business and eligible for government-funded training, technical assistance, and loans through NCIDA.

 
Essential Elements of a Business Plan

1. Description / history of the business
  • Products and/or services offered
  • Existing or proposed legal structure
  • Number of employees
  • Location
  • Ownership
2. Background and expertise of ownership/management.

3. A listing of funding uses, if required, and quotes on larger items.

4. A detailed projection of earnings and expenses showing ability to repay debt (if loan is requested) and sufficient cash flow/profits to pay all expenses.

5. Analysis of market to include description of physical size and typical customers. Competition in that market needs to be assessed and reasons noted for why customers will come to the business. Market strategies need to be outlined.

6. Historical financial statements for existing businesses. These would include profit and loss statements, balance sheets, interim statements and tax returns.

7. Other miscellaneous items may need to be added, such as a personal financial statement, labor schedule and purchase offer.
