Placement Assessment
All students must complete placement assessment in writing, reading, and mathematics before they can be officially accepted into a program of study. OR - Successful completion of NCCC’s Academic Foundation Courses (AAC 042, MAT 004, ENG 099)
OR - Valid test scores (less than three years old) on NCCC’s College Placement Tests

(*High School Course 1, 2, and 3 math exams will no longer be used as waiver criteria. Students that have Course 1, 2, or 3 must be tested.)
NCCC does not exempt students from placement assessment based on scores of other testing instruments or academic foundations course work from a transfer school. Such students must demonstrate competency by passing equivalent college credit courses or NCCC’s tests. More information is available from the Admissions Office or Testing Center.
Academic Foundation courses may be required if there is a concern detected. These courses are to be taken in the student’s first semester and do not count toward the degree or certificate.
