Allied Health Program
The Allied Health program is a daily year long
course that provides each student a comprehensive approach to medical
and health related careers. Created in conjunction with teachers
and faculty members from O/N BOCES and NCCC, the program allows
students to integrate applied math, science and direct job related
learning experiences. These sequences help students identify clear
and realistic college programs of study and a career focus prior
to enrolling in a post-high school program.
This program requires a solid foundation and course
completions in the following core subjects: Math A, Math B (preferred,
but not a requirement), Biology and or Chemistry with a final of
grade of over 80, and ELA Regents. Students in participating high
schools must be either Juniors or Seniors and may have to meet local
district requirements to enroll.
All programs are delivered off the high school campus
and are located in area hospitals, which include:Medina Memorial,
Niagara Falls Memorial Center, Inter-community (Newfane), and DeGraff
Hospital (North Tonawanda).
Each site has both a classroom and laboratory that
provides a variety of hands-on and integrated activities that engage
students.
