Hospitality Management
NCCC recently received approval from the NYSED
to offer a two-year associate degree in Hospitality Management.
We are currently working with the NCCC program coordinator to offer
a similar agreement as well. NCCC's program is designed to prepare
students for careers in an industry where excellent communication
and high-level people skills are necessary, as well as the ability
to provide bottom-line accountability. The Hospitality Management
program's educational offerings span industry needs and are also
sufficiently applied to support supervisory and entry-level management
employment in many areas of the industry.
Niagara University (www.niagara.edu)
also offers a bachelors degree in a variety of Hospitality fields
and was recently identified as one of the top 15 four-year programs
in the industry. NCCC Tech Prep has developed an articulation agreement
with Niagara University's program in Hospitality and Tourism Management
to allow students in local high schools to complete a series
of courses aimed at careers in the industry. The courses titled
Entertainment and Sports Marketing and Hospitality and Tourism Marketing
provide students an insight to the many quality employment opportunities
in the field. In addition, they allows students to transfer the
course completion into the HRT100 course required at Niagara University
and receive 3 college credits.
Currently, the hospitality courses are offered at:
Niagara Falls, Lewiston-Porter, Starpoint, Barker, and Niagara-Wheatfield.
Other schools considering the courses in the coming year (2004-05)
to include: Lockport and North Tonawanda. For more information regarding
programs and agreements, contact your local school counselor, Tech
Prep office or NCCC program coordinator, Becky Burns at 614-6222
