Tech Prep Program Overview

Tech-Prep is a program that has been supported by federal/state grant funds through Perkins Vocational and Technical Education Act (VTEA) legislation since 1990.

Tech-Prep allows students who participate the opportunity to earn college credits while in high school at Niagara County Community College (see policies).

Academic Preparation for College
Tech-Prep focuses on a "2+2" approaches, combining college content in specific high school courses in Grades 11 & 12 so that students can gain a better foundation in specific career majors prior to their freshman year in college.

This process ensures that students come to college academically prepared to do college level work.

Earn College Credit
While earned college credit can only be granted to students who enter NCCC Tech-Prep developed programs, research indicates that many students who elect to attend other colleges, whether they are two or four year institutions, are more successful in their college studies than students who do not consider Tech-Prep involvement as an option.
