Student Requirements
&
Parent Information
As a high school student or a parent
of a high school student, Niagara County Tech-Prep offers a
variety of options leading towards an advanced degree after
high school. In fact, if you are already participating in a
related Tech Prep career program in your high school, you already
may be gaining credits that will apply directly to your college
major. Students who meet the program course requirements outlined
in the program articulation agreements will be eligible for
Advanced Credit options in select NCCC programs.
While the number of college credits may vary depending on your
program of enrollment and your course final grade, you may be
able to complete your associate degree in less than 2 years.
For more information on NCCC program agreements, click here.
11th Grade Requirements
By enrolling in a related course
program at your high school, you are required to complete the
following action steps:
- Please complete the Tech-Prep Student Enrollment Form
and Email it to the NCCC Tech-Prep office staff
(GO to the Form - Link)
- Pass the course(s) with a final grade necessary to qualify
for credit. See your high school teacher or school counselor
for correct information and advanced college credit recommendations
or click here.
- Submit your final high school transcript to the NCCC Tech-Prep
Office (B-100) for validation of appropriate courses and
programs.
- See your NCCC program advisor after classes begin in the
fall or spring semester of your first full semester.
12th Grade Requirements
By completing a two-year course
sequence in one of our TP Programs, you will be identified as
a Secondary Tech-Prep Program completer (TP-1) in our program
database.
In order to be eligible for Advanced College Credit in a related
career program, every high school graduate must complete the
following steps:
- Complete (2) two related Career Sequence courses in the
program area in Grades 11 & 12. See program web pages
for more information on course sequences.
- Be registered as a Niagara County Tech-Prep student in
our database (Forms should be completed during your Junior
Year and updates each year in the program as you progress
through college and then work).
- Have your completed high school transcript (after graduation)
reviewed by the NCCC Tech Prep Office or a member of the
NCCC Admissions Department staff prior to College Registration
in the Fall or Spring semester you plan to attend.
- Enroll in a related NCCC Tech Prep articulated program
or related program. (Some college programs allow for technical
course or optional electives. Students may be allowed to
transfer Tech-Prep articulated credits as technical program
credits. Students are encouraged to consult options with
their program major advisory during advisement or registration
periods.)
