Janitorial Custodial Maintenance
The Janitorial and Custodial Maintenance Program under Workforce Community Development of Niagara County Community College will provide individuals with competitive and marketable job skills in the field of Commercial and Industrial cleaning services. There will be a focus on the proper use and care of cleaning agents, supplies and equipment for general cleaning techniques, restroom care, window and wall washing, basic floor and carpet care. Attention given to job vocabulary, organization and planning. Special emphasis placed on grooming, attitude and work habits to aide in finding and retaining employment.

Medical Transcription – Day
This newly expanded 450 hour program is designed specifically for those individuals who wish to change their career directions. Students will meet Monday through Friday, 8:30 – 3:00 p.m. for 15-week period and must fulfill an externship in a local medical facility. The program includes medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and completion of medical reports and summaries using a transcription machine and computer. Graduates are well prepared to find employment in a doctor's office, hospital, clinic, or at home as a self-employed Medical Transcriptionist. Prerequisites are a High School Diploma or GED and keyboarding at 40 words per minute. Program to be held at the Summit Extension Site.

Medical Billing Certification Preparation

This 16-hour Review program will prepare you for the Medical Association of Billers Certification Exam. Topics covered during the review are; Medical Terminology Medical Office Insurance, ICD and CPT Coding, Proper handling of Medicare Claims, Claim Resolution, Insurance Carriers, and others. A two- hour exam is given at the completion of the Review.
The Certification is awarded through the Medical Association of Billers, an internationally recognized billing and coding support organization. Medical Coding - New for 2006
This class will assist you in the application of the theoretical and practical coding knowledge presented step-by-step. There is ample opportunity to practice the skill of coding in three levels. First, theory, includes medical terminology foundations, secondly, abbreviated medical diagnosis descriptions which includes practical applications of coding, and thirdly, original reports which represent more complex services and diagnosis descriptions such as operative, pathology, radiology and emergency services.
The class will include:

-- International Classifications of Diseases, 9th revision, Clinical Modification (ICD-9-CM)
-- Official Coding Guidelines

Chairside Dental Assisting

Certified Nursing Assistant - C.N.A.
Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA's) provide basic care of patients under the direction of nursing staff. This CNA program will provide students with the required education and clinical training to achieve New York State Certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant. This program will be a total of 140 hours of theory instruction and clinical practicum. There are 90 hours of instruction including topics such as anatomy, physiology, nutrition and proper hygiene. The student will also be required to complete 50 hours of clinical instruction to learn proper health care procedures. Upon completion of the program, students will take the New York State Nursing Home Aide Competency Examination, which includes two tests to evaluate knowledge and skills required to provide safe and competent patient care. Included in the cost of this program is a set of scrubs and shoes.

REA I - Real Estate Appraisal Basics
This course will present methods used in the collection and analysis of data needed to estimate the value of residential properties using the three approaches to value: cost, income, and sales comparisons. Following successful completion of the course, candidates will fulfill the requirements for RA and MRA designations.
Key topics include appraising as a profession, purpose of an appraisal, influences that effect value, site evaluation, highest and best use, gross rent multiplier, all forms of depreciation, sales comparison techniques, and all types and styles of reports. REA II – Introduction to Income Property Appraisal, Part B
This course will provide an intensive introduction to capitalization theory and related techniques used in appraising income-producing properties. Key topics include the nature of income-producing properties, gross income estimates, units of comparison, direct yield capitalization, financial functions, and financial calculators. Additional topics covered are: Gross income multipliers, market-abstracted overall rates, bands of investment, and debt coverage ratios are covered in depth. Students will also cover developing operating statements and mortgage equity capitalization.

Auto Accessories
This new and exciting course is designed to help hobbyist prepare to become professional installers for an exciting career in the fast growing field of Automotive Accessories. In this course students will learn basic electronics, basic installation of navigation systems / televisions, telephones, and audio systems.
