Services & Programs
NCCC’s Workforce Training and Community Development Department provides an umbrella of educational services for Niagara Region youth and adults. Foundational instruction, life skills, employment readiness, vocational training, career development, professional preparation and testing as well as technology education are available in a variety of formats. Workshops, as well as short term and long term training sessions, can give students new computer skills and also set them on a path to direct entry into a GED, certificate or college program, immediate employment or immediate employment and continuing education to obtain a certificate or academic degree. The focus is determined by the participant’s need and desire.
The department’s Case Manager works closely with each applicant who seeks to explore personal educational formation. Assessment includes identifying interest and skill levels, appropriate options and available resources for funding. As a student becomes involved in programs, the Case Manager continues to facilitate support and assistance throughout the individual’s experience.
Workforce Training and Community Development collaborates with several government and neighborhood organizations to offer resources, aiding participants as they strive to achieve their particular lifelong goals. It is also one of the WorkSource One-Stop Partners, a cluster of more than ten groups working together to provide a coordinated delivery of employment services to businesses and job seekers.
Staff of the Career Education and Counseling Center, based at the Trott ACCESS Center, focus on foundational instruction and job readiness training. Preparation and testing for TABE and COMPASS are also provided.
Workforce Training and Community Development’s programs and services are always being evaluated and updated to provide residents of the Niagara Region with current information and skills needed to discover and enjoy their lifelong learning for personal enrichment and employment.
