Rebecca Cuddahee

2019 Distinguished Alumnus
Class of 1995
Inducted October 19, 2019

Rebecca Cali Cuddahee graduated from SUNY Niagara in 1995 with her Associate’s Degree in Criminal Justice. She continued on to receive her Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Ph.D. in Anthropology from the University at Buffalo.

Upon graduation, Rebecca began teaching at SUNY Niagara in the Criminal Justice Department. At the same time, she was appointed for two terms as a Niagara County Legislature from 2003-2006. Shortly before Rebecca accepted her new teaching position at Duke University, her 17-year old daughter was diagnosed with cancer. After surgery and chemotherapy, her daughter is doing well and Rebecca is now a grandmother.

Over the next few years, Rebecca taught at Duke University and the University at Buffalo in the Department of Anthropology. In addition, she conducted countless research studies and was published in scientific journals for her work.

In the community, Rebecca has been instrumental in saving several Niagara County programs at the Trott Building and continuing the Niagara County Jail Inmates Work Release Program. In addition, she has given back to her alma mater by serving as a guest lecturer and sitting on various SUNY Niagara committees.
