William L. Ross

Appointed 2005 / Current term expires 2026

William L. Ross was appointed to the SUNY Niagara Board of Trustees by the Niagara County Legislature in 2005.  Ross is an alternate member of the SUNY Niagara Foundation Board, and the SUNY Niagara College Association.  He is also a representative for New York Community College Trustees (NYCCT).

Ross is retired from the Niagara County Legislature as an eleven-time Chairman.  The retired teacher and long-time athletic administrator and coach spent 47 years working in the Niagara Wheatfield School District.

Ross served as an elected government official for 30 years with terms as a councilman for the Towns of Niagara and Wheatfield and as a county legislator.  He served in the U.S. Army (Active and Reserve) and retired with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel in 1983 with 28 years of service.

Ross is a member and past President of the Town of Niagara and Town of Wheatfield Lions Club, and the New York State Athletic Administration Association.   He was also past President of Leadership Niagara and the Mount Saint Mary’s Board of Associates.  Ross is on the Board of Directors of Horizon Health Services, “NIMAC” and the Niagara Falls Sports Hall of Fame.  He is a current member of the Niagara County Industrial Development Agency.

Ross earned a bachelor’s degree in History and Political Science from Michigan State University, and a master’s degree in School Administration from Buffalo State College.

Ross and his wife, Linda are proud parents of five grown children and nine grandchildren.
