Gaming and ESports Coordinator – Part-time

COMPENSATION: $9,000 stipend paid throughout the term

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Starting date begins August 1st 2022 through May 23rd 2023

DESCRIPTION:

The Gaming and ESports Coordinator is multi-faceted in meeting the co-curricular needs of a student population and coaching the National Junior College Athletic Association collegiate Esports team at SUNY Niagara. They will be assisting in developing; promoting and facilitating the needs associated with the gaming clubs and organization and will serve as the head coach for the Thunderwolves ESports team.

The position requires weekday, evening, and weekend hours as needed and will primarily be in the evenings.

JOB RESPOSIBILITIES:

  • Work with Student Life and Athletics staff to establish and complete 25 office hours per week including weekend and evening hours as needed. Office hours should remain as consistent as possible, except when working events outside of the normal schedule. These will be determined and set up by the direct supervisor Heather Trumble and Amanda Haseley and can’t be changed without permission from one of the direct supervisors. Additional hours will be required for events and other activities outside these office hours. The office hours and additional hours will be established before the August 1st start date.
  • Assists in providing a variety of opportunities for student involvement in student activities related to Esports, gaming, and virtual events.
  • Implement and host open gaming events and tournaments for the student body
  • Promote events and activities through various marketing strategies: digital screens, table tents, flyers, Stall Street journal, a social media website, etc.
  • Serve as the club advisor to the gaming and anime club.
  • Prepares, maintains, and submits accurate records and reports as assigned by Student Life.
  • The Esports program is expected to recruit student-athletes that can be successful academically and socially at SUNY Niagara.
  • Ensures that the SUNY Niagara program conforms to the standards and requirements of the college, schedules, coordinates, and is present at all practice sessions.
  • Ensures ongoing eligibility of student-athletes in the Esports program and monitors their academic programs.
  • Follow all rules and guidelines of the College and per the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) and the National Association of Collegiate Esports (NACE).
  • Management of Esports team arena, including maintenance of equipment.
  • Directs and coordinates all Esports meets hosted by the college.
  • Oversight of team inventory, including uniforms, arena equipment, etc.
  • Performs other related tasks as required by the Director of Athletics and Student Life Lead Technical Assistant.
