Niagara County Community College Workforce Development Department in conjunction with the Buffalo Niagara International Trade Gateway Organization (ITGO), is hosting the first in a series of presentations to increase awareness of the economic impact and employment opportunities of in-demand areas in Western New York.

The first Understanding Industries workshop, held via Zoom, will highlight Supply Chain Management/Logistics. The workshop will be held on October 21 at 10:00 AM.  This presentation is geared towards K-12 guidance counselors, adult education providers, and career development counselors in county government or community-based organizations. There is no fee to participate.

“After meeting several times with industry and business leaders, it was clear that there is a need to highlight how these industries impact our community, both economically as well as employers,” states Karen Kwandrans, Ed.D, Assistant Vice President of Academic Affairs, Workforce Development. The series will highlight area businesses, their economic impact, and training and jobs available in each area.

“Many students and their parents do not think about logistics and supply chain as a career path – because most of us don’t spend too much time thinking about how everything we use daily gets to us. It’s an industry that requires people, energy and solutions, and always will. There will forever be logistics opportunities, and the Buffalo Niagara ITGO is thrilled to be working with NCCC to tell this story,” added Craig Turner, Executive Director, ITGO.
