SUNY Niagara students will have the opportunity to learn directly from poet Jeanne-Marie Osterman during select English classes on April 21 and 22. As part of SUNY Niagara’s Poetry on the Edge Series, students gain one-on-one time with poets by asking questions, attending workshops, and learning about the field of writing and publishing. Osterman will also share her poetry on April 21 at 12:30 p.m. in the Dolce Valvo Art Gallery at the Sanborn Campus.

Osterman is the author of three books of poetry: Shellback, voted one of the top 100 indie books of 2021; There’s a Hum, from Finishing Line Press; and most recently, All Animals Want the Same Things, winner of the Slipstream Press 34th Annual Poetry Chapbook Competition. Her poems have appeared in Borderlands, New Ohio Review, Cathexis Northwest, 45th Parallel Magazine, and a number of other publications. Osterman is currently poetry editor for Cagibi, an online journal of prose and poetry.

This series is sponsored by the SUNY Niagara English Department and has been a tradition of the College for 29 years. The reading is free and open to the public.  A book signing and refreshments will follow. For more information about Poetry on the Edge, please contact Professor Rebekah Keaton, 716-614-6809 or rkeaton@niagaracc.suny.edu.
