Sexual Violence Prevention Campus Climate Survey

Consistent with New York State Education Law 129-B and policies of The State University of New York, SUNY Niagara participated in the 2021 University-wide Biennial SUNY Uniform Campus Climate Survey. The Survey gathered information about student and employee experience with sexual and interpersonal violence and knowledge of policies and resources.

305 students and 173 employees completed the survey, for response rates of 14.3% and 27.7%, respectively.

In the survey 21.07% percent of female students, 2.86% percent of male students, and 0% percent of gender non-binary students reported that they were subject to sexual harassment in the prior year. 11.07% percent of female students, 1.9% percent of male students, and 0% percent of gender non-binary students reported that they were subject to sexual assault in the prior year. 68.83% percent of students indicated familiarity with affirmative consent, 42.60% percent indicated that they knew where to report, and 23.90% percent could identify the Title IX Coordinator.

SUNY Niagara, working with SUNY and community colleagues (including students, faculty, and staff), will use these data to improve response to violence, develop prevention programs, and will continue to study the issue. The next SVP Campus Climate Survey will be administered in Spring 2023. More information about the survey is available at https://www.suny.edu/climatesurvey/.
