Student Showcase

Faculty Mentor

Thank you for considering Faculty Mentorship with the SUNY Niagara Student Showcase!

Faculty can provide two essential services for the Showcase

  1. Student recruitment
  2. Mentorship towards a quality student project

Student Recruitment

We all have students who excel academically or need just a little push to fully blossom.  These are the students we want for Student Showcase!

Experience shows that faculty encouragement is our best recruitment tool.  Please talk to promising students and let them know you think they are worthy to compete at Showcase.  Many students do not recognize their own talents or are not confident enough to try on their own.

Even if you cannot mentor yourself, the Committee can find someone who can.

Mentorship

This is a collaboration with the Student.  A Faculty mentor will:

  • Assist the student in filling out the Showcase application during the spring semester.
  • Assist the student in creating a no more than 200-word abstract that describes the project. This abstract will be printed in the Showcase program.
  • Consult frequently with the student to ensure that the project is progressing and is being created with high standards.
  • Help the student shape the project and determine the best category for the entry.
  • Make suggestions for the project’s final design.
  • Make sure the student has filled out an interest form.
  • Proofread the project PowerPoint slide, check to see if the slide is sized to the category requirements, and check it for factual accuracy prior to submission.
  • Submit the final PowerPoint slide of the project to Showcase Planning Committee by the appropriate deadline.

Have an interested student?

Have them fill out the interest form below.  Note: This does not commit the student to present at the Showcase.
