Celebrate Summer with Discounted Buffalo Bisons Tickets

The Niagara County Community College (NCCC) Alumni Association is partnering with the Buffalo Bisons this summer to offer discounted tickets to home games for the 2022 season.  A portion of each discounted ticket sold to Buffalo Bisons home games will benefit the NCCC Foundation/Alumni.

The discount is valid for all home games except the July 4, 2022, which is a special Independence Day celebration featuring the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra.  To purchase tickets, visit: https://www.niagaracc.suny.edu/alumni/events/nccc-alumni-bisons-tickets/

NCCC Alumni Association to Set Sail on the Moondance Catamaran

Set sail with the Niagara County Community College (NCCC) Alumni Association on the Moondance Catamaran on Friday, June 24, 2022 from 3:45 – 5:30 PM. Guests are asked to meet near “The Hatch” at 329 Erie Street, Buffalo, NY 14202. The event is open to NCCC alumni, NCCC employees, and friends of the College. Proceeds will support the NCCC Alumni Association.

Cruise over Lake Erie while enjoying pizza, drinks, and networking with your fellow guests. Tickets are $15 per person and includes beer, wine, pop, and pizza. Space is limited.  Tickets will not be sold at the marina and registration ends on Wednesday, June 15, 2022.

NCCC Alumni Association Seeking Nominations for Annual Award

The Niagara County Community College Alumni Association is seeking nominations for its Distinguished Alumni Award. This award is bestowed to deserving alumni who exemplify educational achievements, career success, community involvement, and support to NCCC. The award will be presented at the NCCC Foundation, Inc. Scholarship Gala to be held on October 22, 2022.

The nominated individual must have completed 50 or more credit hours at NCCC; yet it is strongly recommended that she/he is a graduate. Nomination applications are available to download at https://www.niagaracc.suny.edu/alumni/awards/ or a hard copy can be requested. Applications can be submitted directly online or mailed in to the NCCC Alumni Association, 3111 Saunders Settlement Rd., Sanborn, NY 14132.

All materials are due to the Alumni Office by May 4, 2022 to be eligible for consideration for the award.  If you have any questions, please contact Deb Brewer in the Foundation/Alumni Office at (716) 614-5910 or via email at alumni@niagaracc.suny.edu.

Niagara County Community College Hosted Third Annual Day of Giving

Niagara County Community College (NCCC) participated in its 3rd Annual Day of Giving on Tuesday, November 30, 2021.

Thunderwolves from all over – faculty, staff, alumni, and friends – came together to give back to NCCC raising $8,063! Their donations were designated towards programs that support NCCC’s students and further the College’s mission. Areas that were included were the NCCC Annual Fund, Athletic Department, English Department, Henrietta G. Lewis Library, Honors Program, Student Scholarships, and Veterans Memorial Park.

The outpouring of support and enthusiasm for NCCC, especially during these unprecedented times, has been overwhelming. Thank you to all those who participated and made this day a success!

Although NCCC’s Day of Giving is over, donations can still be made online at www.niagaracc.suny.edu/dayofgiving. Your continued support allows NCCC to prepare students for the challenges of tomorrow’s world by inspiring creativity, responsibility, and leadership.

Niagara County Community College Alumni Association Selects 2021 Distinguished Alumni Award Recipients

The Niagara County Community College Alumni Association has selected two recipients for their 2021 Distinguished Alumni Award. This year’s recipients are Elizabeth Corieri ‘83 and Angelo “Zig” Fracassi ‘85. Due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis, the 2021 award recipients will be honored during the Foundation Scholarship Diamond Gala on October 22, 2022, kicking off NCCC’s 60th Anniversary celebration.

Elizabeth Corieri

NCCC 2021 Distinguished Alumni Award Recipient Elizabeth Corieri ‘83

Elizabeth Corieri graduated from NCCC in 1983 with her Associate’s Degree in LA&S: Humanities & Social Science. She continued her education at the University at Buffalo earning her Bachelor’s Degree in Education in 1985. While working full-time teaching second grade at Military Road School, Elizabeth graduated from Niagara University in 1990 with her Master’s Degree in Education and in 1992 earned her degree in Administration and Supervision. During this time, she was transferred to Colonial Village Elementary School where she stayed for 2-years before starting at Tuscarora Indian School. Five years later in 1998, Elizabeth was promoted to Principal of Tuscarora School. For over 20-years, she has been an avid supporter of the Tuscarora Culture and Language program which is a vital part of the cultural revitalization at Tuscarora. She also serves as Co-Chair of the Native American Regional Forum which addresses issues in the Native American educational system. In addition to education, she has dedicated herself to different programming throughout the school by organizing their yearly Elder’s Day, Culture Night, and Graduation Dinner. Outside of work, Elizabeth is a certified children’s yoga teacher. She volunteers her time to the students at Tuscarora School teaching them positive mental health and proper breathing techniques.

Angelo “Zig” Fracassi

NCCC 2021 Distinguished Alumni Award Recipient Angelo “Zig” Fracassi ‘85

Angelo “Zig” Fracassi graduated from NCCC in 1985 with his Associate’s Degree in Communication & Media Art. While attending NCCC, Zig’s passion for radio grew by hosting his own show on WNCB and interning at WJJL. Upon graduation, Zig moved to Las Vegas where he attended the University of Nevada for just over a year before he landed his first professional radio job as a D.J. and Producer. In 1992, Zig received his first nationally syndicated sports talk show with Sports Entertainment Network. In 1994, he was offered a position with Sports Fan Radio hosting regular call-in shows as well as an NHL program titled “In the Crease”. He continued in this position until 2001 when he returned to Western New York as a host and sports anchor for WNSA 107.7 announcing pre-game shows for the Buffalo Sabres. After, he moved to New Jersey for a position with Sirius Satellite Radio (now XM Satellite Radio) as a part-time NFL Radio anchor.  This position evolved into his current role hosting full-time shows on NFL Radio, SiriusXM Channel 88. He is also a regular contributor to SiriusXM NHL Network Radio Channel 91 and is featured hosting college football and hockey shows for SiriusXM College Sports Nation and ESPNU Radio.

Virtual Meat Raffle

Sizzlin’ Summer Virtual Meat Raffle Hosted by the NCCC Alumni Association

The 2nd annual Sizzlin’ Summer Virtual Meat Raffle hosted by the Niagara County Community College Alumni Association will take place Thursday, June 10, 2021, at 7:00 PM. The event will be held on Facebook Live with ArtyParty716. It is open to all NCCC alumni, employees, students, and friends of the College.

Take a chance at winning some of your favorite sizzlin’ summertime meats all from the comfort of your home! Ticket packages are $35, $50, or $70. Additional tickets are also available for the 50/50 drawing, basket raffles, and grand prize raffles. Tickets are pre-sale only through Tuesday, June 8, 2021.

You do not need to have Facebook to participate. Facebook Live videos are accessible to anyone with or without an account. Attendees who do not live locally are welcome to participate. Out-of-area winners will receive a gift card to a store near you for the total value of your winnings. Anyone who is unavailable the night of the event is also invited to join. Attendees will be notified if they win.

Niagara County Community College To Host Second Annual Day of Giving

Niagara County Community College (NCCC) will be participating in its second annual Day of Giving on Tuesday, December 1, 2020.

This year, extraordinary circumstances call for extraordinary generosity. Please consider donating to the NCCC Annual Fund to help us reach our goal of $20,000. This fund allows the NCCC Foundation to direct your gift to where the College needs it the most. Donations can also be designated to a specific area or program of the College. From student experiences to classroom equipment, your contribution will provide a lasting effect on our students’ futures.

On this day and leading up to it, NCCC will be taking gifts and pledges around the clock. Your support will have a profound impact on NCCC and will enable the College to continue its tradition of being the smart place to start.

Niagara County Community College Alumni Association Selects 2020 Distinguished Alumni Award Recipients

The Niagara County Community College Alumni Association has selected two recipients for their 2020 Distinguished Alumni Award. This year’s recipients are Muriel Anderson ’83 and JoAnn Pellegrino ’97. Due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) crisis, the 2020 award recipients will be honored during the rescheduled NCCC Foundation Scholarship Gala. There is currently no new date at this time.

Muriel Anderson graduated from NCCC in 1983 with her Associate’s Degree in Accounting. She continued on to receive her Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Accounting from the University at Buffalo. While earning her degrees, Muriel worked as the Vice President and Deputy Auditor for M&T Bank. In 2000, Muriel joined UB as a faculty member dividing her time between the School of Management Departments of Accounting & Law and Organization & Human Resources. In 2014, Muriel joined NCCC’s Accounting Program Advisory Committee. Her experience provided NCCC with important information to help students transfer and continue their education at UB. She has also served on NCCC’s Program Excellence Evaluation Review (PEER) Committee in 2015 and 2020. In addition to her dedication to education, Muriel manages her own business where she provides tax and account services to approximately 50 clients. She also volunteers her time as the treasurer for Hope for Sisi’s Kids, Inc., a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the health and education of children in a rural area of Ghana, Africa.

JoAnn Pellegrino graduated from NCCC in 1997 with her Associate’s Degree in Nursing. She continued on to receive her Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree from Roberts Wesleyan College in Nursing Education. While earning her degrees, JoAnn worked as an ICU nurse at Medina Hospital and Lakeside Memorial Hospital. She was promoted at Lakeside Memorial Hospital to Director of Nursing Surgical Services in the Maternity and Central Sterile Processing unit. After many years of applying her education in hands-on nursing roles, JoAnn went on to inspire the next generation of nurses as an Adjunct Instructor at Niagara University and Roberts Wesleyan College. In 2017, JoAnn was named Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer at Niagara Falls Memorial Medical Center. Throughout her time, JoAnn has never forgotten her start at NCCC. She continues to remain involved by attending the annual NCCC Foundation Scholarship Gala and Leadership Luncheon, serving as the keynote speaker for the NCCC Nursing and Allied Health graduation ceremony in 2018 and is a current member of the NCCC Nursing Advisory Board.

Meat Raffle

Niagara County Community College Alumni Association to Host Virtual Meat Raffle

The NCCC Alumni Association is hosting a Virtual Meat Raffle on Friday, November 6, 2020, at 7:00PM on Facebook Live with ArtyParty716. The virtual event is open to all NCCC alumni, employees, students, and friends of the College. Proceeds will support the NCCC Alumni Association.

Watch us spin the wheel for a chance to stock up on all of your favorites for the holiday season from the comfort of your own home. Meats are provided by Pellicano’s Market Place. Ticket packages are $35, $50, or $70. Additional tickets to enter the 50/50 and grand prize raffle are also available for purchase. Tickets are pre-sale only. Registration ends on Sunday, November 1, 2020.

Attendees do not need to have Facebook in order to participate in this event. Facebook Live videos are accessible to anyone with or without an account. Any attendees who do not live locally are still invited to participate. We will work with any out-of-town winners to find a store in your area and purchase a gift card for the value of the item you won.
