SUNY Niagara was awarded nearly $39,000 from the New York State Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS) to aid in the stabilization of the child care sector. The College used this grant to expand the John R. Oishei Childhood Development Center on the Sanborn Campus, making room for a space dedicated to caring for infants.
Parents who have children who are 8-weeks to 18-months-old now have the opportunity to attend SUNY Niagara while their babies are provided quality care by the same institution. The new room is able to accommodate seven infants at one time and is managed by two teachers.
Director of the Child Development Center, Christine Duquin, said, “We are overjoyed to be able to provide child care for parents who would like the opportunity to go back to school sooner rather than later.”
SUNY Niagara’s John R. Oishei Child Development Center is located on the Sanborn campus. The center is open Monday through Friday from 7:45 a.m. to 5 p.m. and closes early on Fridays at 4 p.m. In addition to SUNY Niagara students and employees, the public is welcome to enroll their children.
SUNY Niagara’s John R. Oishei Child Development Center is accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC). The Center uses the best practices of child development to foster the growth and learning of each child as an individual and member of the community. Our staff works with families to build positive relationships with caretakers and their children while they pursue their educational and career goals.
