Veteran Services is here to help students navigate paperwork necessary to apply for GI Bill® benefits. NCCC is responsible for reporting accurate and timely enrollment information to the Buffalo VA Regional Processing Office. The Buffalo RPO determines eligibility and processes payment based on this information. NCCC staff members assist with general College and GI Bill® benefit concerns and work with other college offices to expedite paperwork on behalf of our veteran population.
VA education benefits are authorized to veterans and qualified dependents under US Title 10 and 38. Each chapter has specific eligibility requirements that can be found on the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) website. Eligibility for benefits is determined by the Department of Veterans Affairs.
Review the following links for resident tuition rate information and checklists for application steps:
New and readmit students should file an admissions application to become a matriculated student. It is also important to file the FAFSA to apply for federal and state financial aid resources as early as possible. Official copies of military or transfer school transcripts and your DD214 should be submitted to the Admissions Office for credit evaluation immediately upon admission; military transfer credits will be evaluated using the ACE Guide (American Council on Education).
The next step to apply for Veterans Administration educational benefits is to file the application for benefits as indicated below. If you need help deciding which benefit to apply for, information is available on the VA website or by contacting the Buffalo Regional Processing Office (see Contact information below).
All students must submit a copy of their class schedule to the NCCC Veteran Services Office (B-103) each semester immediately after registering. Enrolled courses must apply to your current degree program. Please keep the NCCC Veteran Services aware of any changes to your schedule or program of study. Please check VA Requirements for Course Selection for guidelines prior to registering.
Active Duty Orders: Students called to active duty should bring a copy of their orders to NCCC Veteran Services (B-103). We will work with you and other offices on campus to help you avoid academic and financial penalties. Please refer to Important Information for Service Members Called to Active Duty for more detailed information.
