b'CELEBRATING SUCCESSEventsCommencementOver 800 students earned the right to receive their diplomas at the conclusionof the spring 2023 semester. Nearly 290 crossed the stage at the colleges 59 thcommencement on May 13.Graduates, their family members and guests enjoyed remarks by Dr. Mark Bonacci, who encouraged students to be mindful of self-care and a rousing keynote address from Niagara Falls City School District Superintendent Mark Laurrie. Among other speakers were Presidents Medallion recipient Meredith Preve and President Murabito, who noted graduates trajectory through a pandemic to the ceremony.The NCCC Jazz Band, directed by Music Instructor Joshua Wagner, performed the Miles Davis classic All Blues. In a first for NCCC, the college incorporated a land acknowledgement into the proceedings with guidance from Jill Clause of the Tuscarora Nation Turtle Clan, who delivered the ceremonys invocation and the benediction.Nursing Pinning CeremonyThe healthcare community gained nearly 90 registered nurses and practical nursing graduates this spring.
