Applied Learning gives students opportunities to connect their classroom learning to real-world experience. Study abroad, internships, field placements, and clinical placements are examples of applied learning opportunities at NCCC. Students who dont have applied learning experiences as part of their required courses can still participate. Options for 1, 2, and 3-credit experiences that match your career goals can be designed to meet your needs, allowing you to apply your academic skills and develop new proficiencies in a practical work setting. Career Services:Staff help students choose career paths, prepare to enter the job market, and connect with employers. Comprehensive career planning services are available to those undecided about a certificate or degree program, and to any student who may be interested. The process may include Strengthsquest, MyNextMove, MBTI, or Strong Interest Inventory assessments, a discussion on long-term education commitments, and assessment of job market growth. Students and alumni can get assistance navigating the job market and preparing cover letters, resumes, and interview skills, in addition to access to employers through multiple recruitment events. Transfer & Articulation Services:Many students transfer to another college after leaving NCCC. Whether you plan on completing a few semesters here or completing an entire certificate or degree, there are many services and options available to students to make the transfer process easy. Students planning to transfer to a four-year college or university should begin their planning as early as possible. Correct course selection and understanding of the application process is essential to the successful transfer. Staff will assist you with your transfer decision and process, and discuss options. Numerous transfer workshops with local four year colleges and universities are offered on campus or remotely.Student Resource Center:Students can get help addressing many issues including poor performance in classes, changing their major, choosing a new advisor, looking at options for courses. The services in this office are in addition to the advisement students get from their Faculty Advisor. All students enrolled in a certificate or degree program are assigned a Faculty Advisor who can answer questions related to grade options, course requirements, transfer choices, and career pathways. Faculty Advisor. Your Faculty Advisor is there to help you with all of your class scheduling problems, course information, and career guidance. Students should interact with them frequently.
