SUNY Niagara Announces Fall 2021 Plans

By News Archive

May 7, 2021

SUNY Niagara has announced its academic and extracurricular plans for the fall 2021 semester, with intentions to increase its face-to-face capacity in both areas. Many classes will return to a traditional in-person format, yet the option for a flexible class schedule will remain for students who prefer virtual learning options. This includes completely virtual classes as well as hybrid courses, which alternate between online learning and face-to-face instruction. At least 20 classrooms will be outfitted with new technology to support the array of teaching styles that SUNY Niagara has adopted into its degree programs.

Outside of the classroom, SUNY Niagara athletics will resume for the 2021-2022 year. The College will follow guidelines from the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) as well as New York State. Theatre, music, and dance productions are planned to return to the stage and all theatre-related guidelines designated by the State will be followed as well. The Henrietta G. Lewis Library, along with the Academic Center for Excellence will continue to offer both face-to-face and online services. Student Housing will operate as close to full capacity as possible, leaving some rooms available to accommodate quarantine and isolation as needed. SUNY Niagara will continue to follow safety recommendations set forth by Niagara County, SUNY, New York State, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

SUNY Niagara to Resume Intercollegiate Athletic Competition in February 2021

By News Archive

December 8, 2020

SUNY Niagara plans to resume intercollegiate athletic competition in February 2021, beginning with its indoor sports of men’s and women’s basketball, women’s volleyball, and wrestling. To ensure a safe return to play, SUNY Niagara will continue to follow all federal, state, and local guidelines put forth in regards to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.

“Going off the success we have seen with mitigating risk during the fall semester, we feel as if we can move forward in providing a safe and worthwhile opportunity for our student-athletes,” SUNY Niagara Director of Athletics Amanda Haseley said.

According to Haseley, helpful tools in determining a return to play included: the New York State Supplemental Guidance for Athletics at Higher Education Institutions during the Covid-19 Public Health Emergency document, other local NCAA and USCAA schools successfully participating in multiple sports along with preseason scrimmages, practices and workouts held on SUNY Niagara’s campus throughout the fall semester.

Spring sports including baseball, golf, and softball along with the traditional fall sports of men’s and women’s soccer are on track to begin competition in March. Earlier in the year, the NJCAA Board of Regents voted that all 2020-21 NJCAA sports seasons (fall, winter, and spring) will not count towards student-athlete eligibility.

100% All In!

SUNY Niagara Athletics Department Kicks Off 100% All In Campaign

By News Archive

May 7, 2020

COVID-19 has been the toughest opponent to date for SUNY Niagara and its award-winning athletic department. The ongoing pandemic has forced SUNY Niagara to cancel the 18th annual Roy E. Sommer Memorial Scholarship Golf Scramble, which was scheduled for Monday, June 22 at the Niagara Frontier Country Club.  Although it is anticipated that the golf tournament will resume next summer, the SUNY Niagara Athletic Department is asking for your help in funding athletic scholarships for the upcoming academic year.

The 100% All In campaign is an opportunity to help scholarship-level programs continue to bring in student-athletes that the campus, community, and supporters can be proud of and recognize.  Our championship-level men’s and women’s basketball programs have been nationally ranked, regionally recognized and among the best at helping student-athletes move on to four-year schools.

For a donation of $100, you will be mailed a complimentary Thunderwolves polo and you will help fulfill the dreams of future athletes at SUNY Niagara.  For more information and to make your donation online, visit the website: http://www.niagaracc.suny.edu/alumni/allin/
