Start a new career as a medical billing specialist! Doctors’ offices, hospitals, HMOs, and clinics need the service of skilled billing specialists able to do the important job of medical billing. This is an evening program designed for those who have general office skills and are seeking a specialization. It focuses on the rules and regulations of the insurance industry, medical terminology, medical coding principles, and MEDENT, a medical accounting software package. Successful completion of this program will provide graduates with the opportunity to obtain employment in diverse medical office environments, and qualifies them to take the Certified Medical Billing Specialist review and exam. Requirements include a high school diploma or GED and keyboarding skills of 25 words a minute.

Medical Billing Complete Program

Cost: $2350 – plus books
Days/Times:
Fall 2021 – Classes normally meet on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays from 5:00 pm- to 9:00 pm or students can take individual classes (does not include Medical Billing Certification Review and Exam). Room D-108

Understanding Health Insurance (Wednesdays for 22 classes)

Highlights the concepts and procedures required to prepare and submit accurate health insurance claims.

Microsoft Office (Mondays for 18 classes)

Word and Excel applications, beginning through intermediate commands.

MEDENT (Tuesdays and Wednesdays for 6 classes)

Medical billing software used by health care professionals (Understanding Health Insurance is a prerequisite).
